How to proofread effectively
- Use who, what, where and when to check that you have all the ‘call to action’ information on your material.
- Check that all contact details are correct.
- Phone that telephone number and send a test email to the address that you have. Wait for a response, before it goes to print.
- Always have the previous document to check the amends against.
- Read it twice. The first time to check that your amends have been made. That the company name is spelt correctly and that the layout looks professional. Also check that you don’t have widows (words that sit on their own at the end of paragraphs).
- The second time you read it make sure you give it a thorough read through to see that it makes sense.
